Dr. Anna Nackley Recognized by Rutledge Cancer Foundation
The Center for Assisted Reproduction was recently recognized by Rutledge Cancer Foundation with the “Heart of Gold” Award for providing fertility preservation services to young adult patients undergoing cancer treatment. The award was presented to CARE Fertility’s Anna Chan Nackley, M.D. during the Hearts of Gold Luncheon hosted by the Rutledge Cancer Foundation.
The Rutledge Cancer Foundation hosts the Hearts of Gold Luncheon with a goal of raising awareness and support to care for adolescent and young adult cancer patients. The foundation is committed to finding less toxic and more curative treatment for sarcoma and other solid tumor cancers. Celebrating eight years, donations made during the luncheon help fund research and clinical trials, programs and outreach for adolescent and young adult cancer patients, and grants for fertility preservation cycles.
“It was an honor for me to be the recipient of the Heart of Gold award and for my team at CARE Fertility to be recognized for providing fertility preservation services to the community,” says Dr. Nackley. “We understand the time-sensitivity and the vulnerability of these young women and do our best to provide prompt and personalized support by fast-tracking their treatment cycles and assisting them in obtaining all their medicines. We have a team approach and work closely with the referring oncologists assuring availability year-round. We want to help these young women understand how cancer and cancer treatments affect fertility, and to let them know that our goal is to give them hope for the future. We are grateful to the Rutledge Cancer Foundation for their continued support.”
CARE Fertility offers newly-diagnosed cancer patients rapid consultation regarding treatment options for fertility preservation prior to undergoing surgery, radiation or chemotherapy, which can result in future infertility. Fertility preservation options, such as egg and embryo freezing are available at special rates for patients undergoing cancer treatment. CARE Fertility doctors and staff work in collaboration with the patients’ oncologists and surgeons to determine the best treatment options. To schedule a consultation, call 817-540-1157.
Laura Rutledge, executive director of Rutledge Cancer Foundation, adds, "With the support and commitment of Moncrief Cancer Institute and dedicated reproductive oncologists like Dr. Nackley, the Rutledge Cancer Foundation has been able to create and support a community-driven program whereby every young person diagnosed with cancer in the Fort Worth area should have access to counseling and procedures to preserve their fertility before beginning their cancer treatment. We hope to help other communities learn how to replicate this collaborative Fertility Preservation Program that brings hope to an otherwise challenging and uncertain time."
